Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Grandad pops a cracker,
The plastic menace flies into the soup,
Someone must have switch the gravy with the coffee,
And mils potatoes taste like warmed up gloop.
After dinner is finally over,
We gather around the tree,
I watch the kid’s delighted faces,
As another load of junk piles up around me.

Think of the trees, think of the waste,
Think of the poor old bin men,
Who will no doubt need a giant digger?
To combat the Christmas waste.
When the toys are played with,
And kids are safely in bed,
I snuggle up on the sofa,
And wonder about something,
My dear old mother once said.
Christmas is a time for giving,
But also a time for family’s to share.
So I turns on me faithful laptop,
And starts to click away,
Alas the answer to all me troubles,
I give me mother in law away!
